GREENFIELD PARK
Greenfield, California

Project Background:
The Greenfield community initiated the idea for this nature-oriented community park. A community working group developed a concept plan, wrote a proposal and won a state grant of almost $3 million to emphasize interactive unstructured learning and play in a setting that emulates the character of the nearby Pinnacles National Park. The park includes many custom play features that reflect the geology, hydrology.

PCLD facilitated community workshops to more clearly define the character of the park and the specific facilities that the community wanted.

Park features include an amphitheater, water diversion, playgrounds and, a climbing wall. The park’s native vegetation, designed to reflect the chaparral and coastal scrub biomes of the area.

The climbing walls emulate the breccia geology of Pinnacles.
